Moon Hall, Reigate is a mainstream independent school inspected by ISI, the Independent Schools Inspectorate.
We had an ISI Inspection on 8th-10th October 2024 and the report, summary and survey results can be downloaded by clicking below:
Moon Hall had a very positive Progress Monitoring Inspection by the Independent Schools Inspectorate on 18th March 2025 and are awaiting the final report to publish.
Additionally, a successful Surrey County Council Quality Assurance visit took place on 11th March 2025 and commented positively on the following:
1) How do Leaders & Managers demonstrate good skills and knowledge?
The details shared in this visit illustrated the fact that staff have confidence in the vision for the school, have overseen an empowering set of staff training initiatives, and that a stable leadership group is firmly focussed upon the raising of standards in a co-ordinated way. There are detailed development plans in place and high standards have come across in all respects of this visit.
(2) How do Leaders and Managers ensure they fulfil their responsibilities effectively to meet all ISI standards?
The Leaders shared the fact that the DFE Action plan has showcased the targeted work being undertaken and I am happy to confirm this from the visit that I have undertaken. The plans are detailed, comprehensive and sensibly judged.
(3) How does the school currently actively promote the well-being of pupils?
Once again the DFE development plan showcases a range of ways in which this is assured. I am happy to affirm this from my scrutiny and comment that there is a strong overview and safeguarding culture in place that was exemplified in the discussion I held with the Headteacher related to the way safeguarding is managed, the range of supportive therapies on offer, and through weekly pastoral meetings that cover all pupils' welfare.
There is a joined up and holistic approach taken. I would also draw the attention of any reader of this report to the powerful student voice that confirmed the fact that attending Moon Hall has been very important to the learners that I spoke to in terms of developing confidence and giving them a voice.
(4) How has oversight of low-level concerns seen development?
The Headteacher and I discussed this at length and the processes for reporting Low Level Concerns have been very much tightened and there have been the following updates: The staff handbook has been updated and clarified, there is a specific Low Level Concerns policy in place, there is a specific reference to the low level concerns arrangements in the general safeguarding policy, there has been specific targeted staff training undertaken related to this in September 2024 and January 2025 that showcased the work on detailed examples of low level concerns and what to do. Staff completed feedback questionnaires, and all were 100% correct in their responses.
(5) How is safeguarding monitored currently?
Safeguarding lead governors attend once a term and undertake checks of the Single Central Record, CPOMs, and there are regular reports to the Safeguarding Governors' Committee. I have no concerns over systems and oversight following this visit.
(6) Application of the complaints policy related to the suggestions in the ISI report?
This was updated during the inspection and the number of complaints that have happened is now a centrally shared element. I judge this to have been managed and responded to fully.
(7) How are recruitment checks and risk assessments managed following staff appointments?
During this visit I scrutinised the only governor appointment since the ISI Inspection and can confirm that processes used saw the Governor not approved or attending site until the enhanced DBS check had come through. The HR manager explained that no Governor can or will start until such checks are all verified. I am happy to confirm this is the case for the most recently appointed based upon my check in this visit.
